Michael Stephens, Managing Director of Stephens Lawyers, is a New Zealand Commercial and Film and Entertainment lawyer, and has been closely involved supporting the development of New Zealand’s film production and digital entertainment sector, including film links with China. He travelled in China on business and trade mission many times.
Michael is the founding principal of Stephens Lawyers, and has a personal and professional interest in supporting China/New Zealand trade and investment links including for film, documentary, animation, and other digital media projects. Michael’s current interests include acting as legal counsel for a few Companies involved in property investment, IT and film. He is also an Honorary Chairman to the China New Zealand Film Festival and Chairman of the Korean Cinerama Trust New Zealand. He has previously acted as a Board Member of the NZ Film and Literature Board of Review and as an International Delegate for the Shanghai International Film Festival.
